Students entering 4-6th Grade
We welcome younger riders to learn mountain biking in a fun and game-filled setting. Introduction to Mountain Biking focuses on developing confidence and skills for mountain biking at Schindler’s Way Trail in Austin. The class involves on-the-bike games that teach them how to ride safely and gain the basic skills necessary to ride on cross-country and single-track trails. We support riders, families, and friends while they begin their exploration of Mountain Biking as a lifelong activity.
The course focuses on FUN! Classes will consist of games with cones and other obstacles. The riders learn how to shift, turn, practice bike/body positions, and when (and how much) to brake. Our ride leaders work in small groups and start with beginner-level guidance. After the class, our riders will have the necessary skills to ride many of the regional trails in Minnesota!
Students need: mountain bike, bike helmet less than 4 years old, closed-toe shoes, eye protection (ex. sunglasses), water bottle or water pack.
