DAY 1 – Wednesday, May 6, 2026
8:30 a.m. leave Austin, MN. Lunch (included) in Des Moines before arriving in Pella, IA. Pella is a unique village with more than 28,000 tulips and other flowering plants throughout the village. Lodging is at the Linds Bos Landen Hotel by Wyndham - Pella. For dinner experience a traditional Dutch Dinner (included) with local entertainment at the Graham Center at Central College. [L,D]
DAY 2 – Thursday, May 7, 2026
Breakfast (included) at the hotel. We will then enjoy the tulip gardens around the village of Pella, tour the historic Scholte House, home of Pella’s founder. Next stop is at the Pella Historical Village and Vermeer Mill Tulip Festival. Specialized Dutch food is only available during the festival, so lunch will be on your own at one of the downtown cafes, food trucks or concession stands. There is a considerable amount of walking at the Tulip Festival. Walkers, canes, and collapsible wheelchairs will fit under the motor coach. Guests will need to manage bleacher seating. The afternoon is spent at the Grandstand Street and Stage Performance and watching the beautiful parade. If you want to shop or visit other downtown sights during the parade, they are within a few blocks. After the parade, travel to Coralville, Iowa staying at the Drury Inn. Dinner is at the hotel enjoying their Kickback Hour (included). [B,D]
DAY 3 – Friday, May 8, 2026
Have breakfast (included) at the hotel. Meet an Amana Colonies certified tour guide to learn about the unique history of this German settlement in the era of communal living. Experience what life was like for the separatist pioneers. Have lunch at the Ox Yoke Inn "An Amana Colonies Tradition Since 1940." They are world famous for serving family-style traditional meals made from timeless Old-World German and American recipes passed down from mother to daughter. Leave after lunch and return to Austin at approximately 6:00 p.m. [B,L]
